The Arts Centre, headed by the Victorian Arts Centre Trust, is a statutory authority of the Arts portfolio. The Arts portfolio is administered by Arts Victoria, a division of the Department of Premier and Cabinet. The Trustees are appointed by the Governor in Council, on recommendation of the Minister for the Arts.
Kenneth Myer Medallion for the Performing Arts
- The Kenneth Myer Medallion for the Performing Arts is awarded annually to an outstanding practitioner in the performing arts. Nominees must have at least 10 years professional experience and be Victorian-born or resident.
Nominees might typically be renowned for excellence, have contributed voluntarily to the artistic and cultural life of Victoria beyond the advancement of their career, or be individuals who, through their work and activities, are leaving a positive legacy that will benefit future artists.

An Act to constitute the Victorian Arts Centre Trust, to make provision with respect to the Management and Operation of the Arts Centre and for the Use and Promotion of Theatre Complex in the Centre and for other purposes.
- The Arts Centre is a major supporter of the Green Room Awards, an annual event which recognises the efforts of all those who help give Victorians a taste of the performing arts. The Awards celebrate all the performances given in diverse theatres and performance spaces, large and small, across the full spectrum of live performance.

The Wal Cherry Play Of The Year Award
- This is presented in honour of the achievement of Wal Cherry, the acclaimed director/administrator who died in 1986. It is given to a play judged to be the best unproduced work by a Victorian playwright.
Whistleblowers Protection Act
- The Act aims to encourage and facilitate people making disclosures of improper conduct by public officers and public bodies. The Act provides protection to whistleblowers who make disclosures in accordance with the Act, and establishes a system for the matters disclosed to be investigated and rectifying action to be taken. The VACT is committed to the objectives of the Act and does not tolerate improper conduct by its employees, officers or members.
