Alfred Brash SoundHouse - Creative Lab
The Creative Lab is the main venue used by students visiting the Alfred Brash SoundHouse, the Arts Centre’s world class music technology and multimedia centre. Its 15 computer based workstations, professional demonstration facilities as well as central location make the Alfred Brash SoundHouse - Creative Lab perfect for student visits, professional development, as well as product launches and information nights.

Alfred Brash SoundHouse - Training Room
The Training Room is Alfred Brash SoundHouse's smaller and more personal venue. With its 8 computer based Digital Audio Workstations it is specifically designed to cater for smaller numbers, specifically teacher professional development.

ANZ Pavillion
A premier function venue with floor to ceiling windows and an elegant domed ceiling finished in gold leaf. The surrounding private balcony features magnificent views of the Alexandra and Queen Victoria Gardens, the city skyline, Arts Centre lawn and Federation Square.

Baxter Room
With an Asian-inspired and modern interior, the Baxter Room is an impressive venue for your corporate and private entertaining. Located above the stalls foyer in Hamer Hall, the room is perfect for formal dinners with up to 20 people and drinks for up to 40.

Commonwealth Bank Lounge & Amcor Lounge
These lounges are located in the Theatres Building adjacent to the State Theatre Stalls Foyer and the Fairfax Studio. Linked by an adjoining door, the are ideal for cocktail parties, presentations and dinner parties.
The Amcor Lounge can accomodate 50 for dinner, 100 for cocktails and 65 for theatre-style presentations. The Commonwealth Bank Lounge can seat 40 guests for dinner, 80 for cocktails and 50 for presentations.

Information Desk
Located just inside the entrance of the Theatres Building and in front of Gallery I, the concierge are here to provide information on a range of areas including disability access information, general information for performances, merchandise sales for the Gallery, guided tour ticket sales, and taxi bookings.

Curve Bar
Located in the Theatres building (under the spire), operating Monday to Saturday, Curve Bar offers the highest quality of food and beverage, including an innovative range of shared plates, boutique beers (on tap and bottled), premium wines and spirits and a range of cocktails all presented in a relaxed sophisticated atmosphere. Opening hours Monday to Thursday 4pm to 1am Friday & Saturday 4pm to 3am

Gallery I
Gallery I is the Arts Centre's major exhibition space. The gallery is adjacent to the St Kilda Road entrance and features exhibitions that complement the Arts Centre's performance program.

Gallery II
This small gallery is situated on the mezzanine overlooking the George Adams Gallery and can operate independently or in conjunction with the George Adams Gallery.

Hugh Williamson Room
This versatile room has a small entrance area and a large private balcony that overlooks the Arts Centre forecourt. It is suitable for meetings, dinners for up to 20 guests and cocktails for up to 65.

Playhouse Foyer
The foyers of the Playhouse Theatre feature a stunning collection of Western Desert paintings by important indigenous artists.

Playhouse Rehearsal Room
The Playhouse Rehearsal Room is a good-sized space ideal for Performance Discovery Workshops with children. This space can only be accessed with a staff member from the Arts Centre.

Plaza Room
This function room is located at the front of the Arts Centre and overlooks the Arts Centre forecourt. The room is suitable for meetings, dinners and cocktails for up to 25.

Potter Foyer
The Potter Foyer leads into the foyer of the Fairfax Studio and houses Jeffrey Smart’s painting “Container Train in Landscape".

River Room
Nestled on the side of Hamer Hall, this venue features a unique view of the Yarra River. The room is perfect for formal dinners for up to 60 people and cocktail receptions for up to 150.

Smorgon Family Plaza
This central foyer space is the hub of the Arts Centre. The large space leads to the State Theatre, Playhouse and Fairfax Studio. Patrons access it from the car park and the St Kilda Road entrance. The Plaza also houses the Box Office and the Cascade Bar.

Situated in the Smorgon Family Plaza, this features displays of selected objects from our performing arts collection.

This space features small exhibitions and displays. It is ideal for small cocktail functions.

State Theatre Rehearsal Room
The Rehearsal Room for the State Theatre is on Level 3 and can be accessed via the Escalator to the State Stalls Foyer or from the Lift to Level 3.

The Famous Spiegeltent
The most beautiful of the last remaining Belgian ‘mirror’ tents, The Famous Spiegeltent, was built in 1920 by master craftsmen Oscar Mols Dom and Loius Goor. This Grande Dame has spent her lifetime at the bequest of festivals and village fairs throughout Europe and beyond, playing host to the world’s greatest cabaret performers and musicians. The Famous Spiegeltent has a season on our Theatres Forecourt during Spring and Summer.

Mezz Bar
Mezz Bar offers a range of quality food inspired by the smaller tapas-style dishes from around the Mediterranean and a wide range of premium wines. It is a handsome space with new leather lounges and glass tables; the perfect start to an evening. Open one hour prior to evening performances in the Theatres building. Covered walkway
Situated at the front of the Richard Pratt Gardens, the Covered Walkway forms part of the Sunday Market.

Lawn Stage
This is home of the perennially popular and free Summertime Grooves music series which comprises everything from belly dance extravaganzas to solo performances from Mark Seymour. The Arts Centre Lawn, between the Theatres and Hamer Hall, is also home to Inge King’s sculpture Forward Surge, a major work in steel.

Richard Pratt Gardens
This gathering place is home to the Lawn Stage and the popular Summertime Grooves music series. Alongside our Lawn and outdoor stage the adjacent stairs lead to the Theatres Building interior.

Riverside Terrace
This is the walkway that leads you to Southgate between St Kilda Road and Southgate, situated outside Black Box /EQ Cafebar. Suits wine tasting, product demonstrations and outside broadcasts.

Theatre’s forecourt
Home to the convenient Forecourt Coffee Cart, the Theatre’s Forecourt features a podium for bands and plays host each year to The Famous Spiegeltent.

The Undercroft is just beneath Hamer Hall. It hosts our weekly Sunday Market.

Upper Terrace, Hamer Hall
This outdoor space is located behind Hamer Hall, and is a spectacular space for a launch, wedding reception or private party. With great views of the city and surrounds, this is a casual and relaxed site for your event.
The Upper Terrace can accomodate events from 250 to 500 guests.
